Guide: Vidya Schalk

When the Joseon Dynasty was set up by King Taejo in 1382, neo-Confucianism was adopted as the state ideology. For the next 500 years as dynasties rose and fell in neighboring China and Japan, Korea maintained its stability and the way of life by ingraining Confucian values and associated ritual as guiding principles. Join this Gallery in Focus tour of the current Special exhibition on Joseon Korea - Court Treasures and City Life with Vidya Schalk, to explore how state ideology can shape the customs, etiquette, life and future of cultures, people and societal norms.

Please note that special entrance fees to the Exhibition may apply.
