The Japanese Docents’ goal is to build a friendly bridge between Singapore and Japan by introducing the history, culture and art of Singapore to Japanese visitors. Since not many Japanese visitors feel comfortable reading English captions in the galleries, our tours help enhance the visitors' understandings and enjoyment of the museum exhibitions.

The Japanese docents training program has been preparing new members to guide four museums in Singapore.

All Japanese docents are trained to be able to guide at the National Museum of Singapore. In addition, each docent is required to guide at least one more museum, either the Singapore Art Museum or the Asian Civilization Museum. The Perenakan Museum is optional.

Docent training programmes commence in April and October every year.

Docent training programmes and our recruitment are announced on our official blog in Japanese.
